To offer quality teaching services for the students. To become a respected Portuguese language school known for efficient teaching-learning processes, so students, teachers and affiliates of the school all benefit from their association with Portuguese Learning Center.

OUR TEAM

Claudia Lyra has brought Brazilian culture to others since she moved to U.S.A in 2003. From Londrina, Brazil, she has brought her BA in Psychology; a Certification as English Teacher acknowledged by Michigan University; eight years of Capoeira (a Brazilian Art Form that can be practiced as a martial art, a dance, a music style and as history) which has been a valuable tool regarding education and the healing process, plus a lot of curiosity regarding different cultures and languages.

In San Diego, she has been performing Brazilian Cultural assemblies, directed by her own, at schools and interested venues bringing to the community a cultural diversity. http://nosdechita.weebly.com

As a Portuguese teacher she has been working at the request of business projects, travelers and families.

Attending Waldorf Schools Teacher Training and certified as Expressive Arts Practitioner she believes that Portuguese Learning Center has a large potential to share and to disseminate the Brazilian language, and everything else that is involved in its culture, in a professional and creative way.

Vivianne Gontijo – proudly “mineira” (those born in the golden state of Minas Gerais) – post-graduated in Linguistics - Methodology – Acquisition of Language - at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – BRAZIL, in 2002.

Vivianne has taught Portuguese in both Brazil and the United States for more than 8 years, in private sessions, small groups and formal classroom settings. In 2005, she founded the Portuguese Learning Center (PLC) to serve the language needs of the San Diego community.

Vivianne also teaches an intensive immersion course at San Diego State University.

Sérgio Machado was born in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. He has BA in Portuguese and Brazilian Literature; MA in Educational Technology and Background in Brazilian Music and Art.

Sergio taught Portuguese and Brazilian Literature in Brazil for several years and at San Diego State University from 2000 to 2005.

Flávia Ribeiro is from Curitiba. She graduated in Law at the University of Vale do Itajai. She had her own language school in Brazil, where she taught English and Portuguese as a second language for 9 years.
